Our last camp of this year went off with a bang! What an exceptional few days we had, even after the weather promised to pour down on us!
Well, the weather wasn’t as bad as we feared, and even if it had been, we would still have had a great time. With a wonderful mix of characters we got off to an excellent start with a wonderful dinner together on our first night, over which we talked, laughed, and shared stories and hopes with each other.
On our first morning we awoke to driving winds and heavy rain, slightly putting us off our intended plan of a walk up Cribyn Mountain. Instead
we took our time breakfasting, and then congregated in our main kitchen tent for a wonderfully enjoyable morning of games. It was so nice to see everyone getting involved, and some of the games left us in stitches.
To our joy the weather cleared up later in the afternoon, and after making our lunch we were able to complete our hike up Cribyn Mountain! Which was followed by home cooked dinner on the camp fire, hot chocolate, our famous and wonderfully presented home-made cabaret, and songs around the camp fire.
The next morning we packed up and set off for the River Wye. There we piled into some lovely canoes and gently made our way down the slightly swollen river, stopping for packed lunch in the sunshine by the river bank.
After a few hours on the river we reached our destination in Hay-On-Wye, and landed there for ice-cream and our closing circle – where we shared our favourite moments from over the past few days.
