Thanks to Stroud District Youth Council Our World is able to hold a session once a month in 2016. A collaboration between youth groups and young people, we meet to discuss and explore environmental and sustainability issues, share understanding with ‘Tiny Ted Talks’, debate solutions, question guest experts and express fears and misconceptions in a safe, non-judgmental environment. And to eat pizza!
Our World went to the London Climate Change march in November and wrote this excellent article for the SNJ. The group is keen as mustard and looking for a like-minded business to sponsor them to become a strong voice for young people on the climate change agenda.
We welcome contributions from local and regional experts to our Ted talks and workshops. Please get in touch if you would like to take part, to do a short presentation or run a workshop.
If you know of a young person aged 13-24 living in the Stroud District who would like to join the group let them know about it. Download the Our World leaflet and find us on facebook.
After a year of running Our World we have seen significant growth in confidence in young people to state evidence based opinion and emerge as young leaders. They are developing new skills and understanding leading to a greater engagement with the issues as their confidences grow. We also think that their families will be better informed about the issues leading to more pro-active communities and engagement with local organisations offering community projects.
